BORONGAN CITY, June 1, 2017–BISHOP Crispin Varquez has encouraged the major seminarians of the diocese of Borongan to be passionate and give themselves in the service to the people.

“Love the Diocese of Borongan. Love the people who will be entrusted to you later as their ministers,” the bishop told the seminarians who were gathered for their annual summer assembly at the Nativity of Our Lady College Seminary in Borongan on May 31 to June 3, 2017.

Fresh from their annual summer apostolate, some 40 major seminarian were reminded by the bishop of the need of being zealous in the ministry.

“Our humility allows us to be sent to the far-flung places of our diocese and to serve the people with greater zeal,” the bishop said.

He said that a priest or a priest-to-be could not be someone who can simply be okay with the way things are. Passion allows us to go beyond our comfort zones in the service of God, the bishop added.

Since 1974, the Borongan Major Seminarians’ Organization has served as the official organization of the major seminarians of the Diocese of Borongan.

The seminarians gather annually for reflection, updating and bonding.

This year’s summer assembly carries the theme: “BORMASO: Komunidad ni Kristo, Nagkakaurosa para han Pagserbisyo.” (Roel Joe Abonal / Este News)
